Over 70 church buildings destroyed in "anti-Charlie Hebdo" protests
Last week, Charlie Hebdo, the French satirical magazine, published an image of Mohammed on its front cover – its response to the massacre of twelve people at its Paris offices by Muslim extremist gunmen. The publication was widely praised across Europe as an example of "freedom of expression".
However, the magazine's publication led to protests in several Muslim countries. Last weekend in Niger, protesters attacked over 70 church buildings, despite the fact that Charlie Hebdo is not a Christian magazine, and routinely offends Christians too.
