Western Bible teachers believed that the European Union was the beginning of John’s Revelation, wherein the end times, a beast would rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns.
Though Europe was the only region ancient Rome ever conquered, and the EU wasn’t actually formed in the last days, it still didn't stop scholars from teaching that John’s beast somehow had everything to do with Europe and nothing at all to with the Middle East.
In light of revelation now given to the Church (much of which we still refuse to see) the Middle East is clearly coming into focus, with Islam now rising from obscurity into the light of intense scrutiny, revealing a biblically accurate model of the beast, and a more logical geographical region from where the beast will most likely arise.
Daniel’s prophecy, which is considered one of the most detailed visions on the last days, records four major empires to rise, with one arising before the return of Christ, which will be destroyed at Christ’s second coming.
John’s revelation identifies seven (7) heads or Kingdoms. At the time of his writing, five empires had already fallen, the one that was (is) at the time John received his Revelation was Rome, and the final empire which would succeed Rome was yet to come.
The five (5) empires before Rome were:
Egypt
Assyria
Babylon
Medo-Persia
Greece
Traditional eschatology contends that both Daniel’s prophecy and John’s revelation, reveal that the Roman Empire would return in the last days in a revived form as the prophesied beast of theAntichrist.
One major problem with this theory is that Daniel’s prophecy makes it clear that not only would the fourth beast be dreadful; terrible; and exceedingly strong; but it would also be different from all the Empires before it. This does not describe Rome, which actually assimilated Greek culture into it's own.
Rome adopted Greek language and Greek gods; it simply switched the names of the Greek gods and gave them Roman names. This does not describe an empire that was different from all the rest.
The most glaring problem with a Rome Antichrist theory is caused by a simple oversight in history, which was never revealed to western bible students, and which actually dates all the way back to the Roman conquest of the world: Rome never conquered the Middle East. Rome conquered Europe. It never dominated the land mass of the previous empires, which Daniel's prophecy says the fourth beast will certainly accomplish.
After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it – Daniel 7:7
The fourth beast of Daniel devoured and broke into pieces and stamped the residue of all the empires before it. That means whatever this beast was, it would have been much stronger than all the empires before it, and it would have conquered the entire land mass once held by the previous empires, totally obliterating former, languages, cultures, laws and religions of the preceding empires.
There is only one entity in all of history that dominated all of the land that was once held by the previous three (3) Empires mentioned in Daniel, and its revived form is currently gaining territory, including the territory of the former empires mentioned in John’s Revelation. That entity is Islam, which ruled through a succession of Caliphates dating back to the 7th century BC.
The Roman Empire did not conquer the Middle East. It conquered Europe. It did not conquer the land held by the three previous empires of Daniel's prophecy, and it fought consistently with the Parthians (Persians) for centuries.
The Muslim Ottoman Empire was the last major Caliphate to absolutely dominate the Entire Middle East, before conquering Rome. Islam consumed all of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece AND Roman territory, before establishing a Muslim Caliphate, with its capital in the Roman province ofConstantinople, which the Ottomans renamed Istanbul, which is in modern day Turkey.
Islam totally wiped out all the cultures, languages, religions and political systems of all the preceding empires. It did not assimilate the identities of nations it conquered; it eliminated them completely - a practice it still employs today.
The Muslim Arab spring, which erupted in 2010, ignited a firestorm across the Middle East, which took prophecy buffs completely by surprise. With Islam now fully re-charged, the grand dream of a revived Islamic Caliphate is sweeping across the Middle East, engulfing the hearts and minds of millions of Muslims who believe that they will see the establishment of a united Muslim Empire in their lifetime.
Radical Islamic group, ISIS which took the Middle East by storm in June of this year, is rapidly expanding, already controlling large parts of Iraq, Syria and now Libya. It is the dream of ISIS leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, to establish an Islamic Caliphate, stretching from Iraq all the way to Spain.
But as powerful as al-Baghdadi has become, he is merely a forerunner to a more powerful entity, namely Turkey. Daniel’s prophecy identifies a Grecian goat, which charges across the Middle East in the last days. (Daniel 8:5) The word Grecian is translated Yavan (Greece) But Daniel is not referring to the nation of Greece today. The vision is for the end times. (Daniel 8:17, 19) The city of Yavan is currently located in modern Turkey.
Therefore, Daniel’s vision of Grecian goat, charging across the Middle East in the last days, does not identify Greece, but the nation of Turkey. ISIS will soon be swallowed up by Turkey, and it may be partially weakened by Iran, who will make its own initial attempt at Mideast supremacy in the near future. (Daniel 8:1-4)
It has already been well documented that ISIS is merely a tool used by Turkey to achieve its greater social/political objectives in the region. No matter who appears to dominate the Middle East region in the near future, Turkey will be the last one standing before the arrival of the Antichrist out of aMiddle Eastern Caliphate.
Turkey's vision of an Islamic Caliphate
To those with eyes willing to see, both John’s Revelation and Daniel’s vision prophesy of the emergence of a Beast from the geographical location of the Middle East. Hence the end time vision of the Empire of the Antichrist is not situated in Rome, but in the Middle East.
All of the land mass that ISIS has set out to conquer, when overlaid with a map of the Ottoman Empire, is an exact match. ISIS has even divided the region up into exactly ten (10) spheres, encompassing all of the Middle Eastern nations today. It is an absolutely perfect depiction of Daniel’s prophecy of the four beasts, and John’s revelation of a beast with seven (7) heads (Seven former Empires) and ten (10) horns. (10 future kings)
Map drawn up by ISIS encompassing the Middle East and North Africa. All of the land mass of the seven previous empires, divided into ten regions - Identical to Turkish map above
To assert that the European Union is in focus here, especially since the visions of Daniel are now unsealed, does not do justice to the prophetic scriptures. God does not intend to keep things hidden, just so that many of us can wait for a beast system that satisfies our false doctrines.
What on earth do we see happening right now with Islam that does NOT identify it as the Beast? How long will we stammer as those who are blind, plainly seeing what Islam is doing to Christians and Jews in the East, and still turn aside, making silly, nonsensical quips, like, “ It’s still too early to tell” or, “we can’t know for sure”…
Biblical prophecy should reflect a more accurate understanding of the Gospel. If we are willfully ignorant of the end times, then I suggest the Gospel of Jesus Christ simply cannot be seen or experienced in its proper context. The western church is missing out on some amazing revelations that God wants us to see and understand.
If you are still unconvinced and holding out for a European Beast, watch this video of a national address given by Turkish President, Recep Tayip Erdogan in October this year. Middle East Media Research Institute just released the footage, which was uploaded to Youtube. Pay close attention to the English subtitles as the speech is presented in Turkish. Apart from some flaws in history, Erdogan is certainly fulfilling Daniel's prophecy.
